HITCHCOCK BLONDE: CINEMATIC REFERENCES ON PAGE AND STAGE

Anna Stegh Camati

Resumo

After a brief investigation of thematic, structural and cultural aspects in Terry Johnson’s play Hitchcock Blonde (2003), this paper discusses cinematic references scripted in the text by the British playwright. Thereafter, we aim at providing evidence that in the homonymous Brazilian stage production, by Vigor Mortis (2008), the director Paulo Biscaia not only transposes the indications of the use of video and other cinematic features from page to stage, but creates a series of innovative media technologies not present in Johnson’s text, which will be analyzed in the light of contemporary theoretical perspectives.

Keywords: Hitchcock Blonde. Terry Johnson. Paulo Biscaia. Intermediality. Cinematic references.
